Top Performers and Solutions

Perhaps you’ve heard that companies don’t hire because everything’s alright. No, they hire because somewhere in the organization there’s a problem and they need a solution. After all these years, it’s still interesting to see standard job descriptions that have a wish list of duties and responsibilities but no mention of problems or challenges. Yet, they don’t attract the top performers…why? Well probably it’s because that person is already doing those things at their current job and unless the company is in a downward spiral or their boss is not the most pleasant person to work for, what’s the motivation to leave and pursue something else.
The top performers gravitate towards solving problems. They are solution oriented and are driven to produce results. Aside from their own personal desire to succeed, they are also fueled to figure out how to get all the pieces of the puzzle to fit.
If you consider yourself one of these types, then you’ve probably noticed that once you’ve hit your goals, met your objectives and of course, solved the problem, you’re not exactly jazzed to run on cruise control. Instead, you need a new problem to solve that will force you to stretch your skills and talents so you can be better today than you were yesterday. You know that if you aren’t doing something today that will help you grow, you’re only as good as you’ll ever be right now.
